Introduction

Having enjoyed a remarkable few days on the Fife Coastal Path 2004, Kathy and I decided a coastal path would be just the thing for 2005. After casting about for a bit, we decided on the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. We decided partly because it was a coastal path, and partly because it was in Wales – having enjoyed the movie, The Englishman Who Went Up A Hill But Came Down A Mountain.

Well, why not?
The path itself is about 180 miles end to end. Much farther than we are able to cover in our two week vacation. We decided to walk clock-wise from Amroth around to St. Davids. Click Here to get an over view of where we walked. On the previous link, Amroth is just to the east of Saundersfoot.

p001.jpgGetting to Amroth was the toughest part of the trip. We flew into London, Gatwick and spent the rest of the day on the train – 3 trains actually – getting to Kilgetty. We could have walked on into Amroth, but after 11 hours on airplains and 6 hours on trains (and a bunch of waiting around), we opted to take our B&B owner’s offer to pick us up. He was serving dinner when we got to Kilgetty and said he would be about an hour – so we dove into the pub handily located next to the train station.
